Can you please check these few sentences, please? In particular, I'm not sure about the vocabulary related to skiing equipment. Thank you.

1)Yesterday night we burst (set off) some firecrackers in the garden.
Then we watched the fireworks from the window. We waited for the new year (??) at home among our friends.
2)We ate some appetizers such as oysters with lemon, salmon and butter sandwiches (?) (toasted bread), breaded (fried?) seafood (calamari, squids?) and we drank champagne with it.
3) After that, we had duck à l'orange, pork sausages with lentils, braised beef with roasted potatoes. For dessert we had candied pudding and a typical spiced cake with sultanas.
4) We toasted the New Year with mulled wine. After toasting we danced till late in the morning.
5)When I woke up in the late morning, I was tired out (aching all over) and I found it difficult to get ready for skiing (???).
6) Skiing equipment: snowsuit, ski boots, gloves, snow pants (?), ski jacket (?), poles, skis, helmet, snow goggle, snow mask (?), mittens, thick socks, pantyhose (?)/leggings, turtleneck sweatshirt, zip-up fleece (?)
How do you call the leggings you wear under your ski pants to keep you warm?

1 answer

1 - set off, not burst

2 - All sounds fine except that "squid" is only in the singular (no plural form).

3 - OK

4 - "early in the morning" ("late" is used for nighttime in this context)

5 - OK

6 - snow goggles, ski mask, thermal underwear (not pantyhose or leggings!!) - all else is fine.
