Can you check my homework? (wasn't really sure about #4 and #6)

1. Tekell ate 10 pieces of candy in the same time that Mackensay ate 4 pieces. How many pieces will Tekell have eaten when Mackensay eats 6?

Ans: 10/x = 4/6
4x = 60
x = 15 pieces of candy

2. Savannah made $102.00 babysitting
for 12 hours. How much will she make
babysitting for 15 hours?

Ans: $102/12
= $127.50

3. Nick mowed 8 lawns in 10 hours.
How long will it take him to mow 12 lawns?

Ans: 10/8 = x/12
8x = 120
x = 15 hours

4. 5 out of 6 students prefer pepperoni to sausage. If Ms. Greene has 120 students, how many
prefer pepperoni?

Ans: 5/6 = 5/5+6 = 5/11
5/11 = x/120
11x = 600
x = 54.54
x= 55 students?

5. Connor can ride his skateboard
6 blocks in 10 minutes. How many
blocks can he ride in 15 minutes?

Ans: 10/6 = 15/x
10x = 90
x = 9 blocks

6. Kate has 150 friends on facebook. Taylor has 3 friends for every 2 friends that Kate has. How many friends does Taylor have?

Ans: 3/2 = 3/2+3 = 3/5
3/5 = x/150
5x = 450
x = 90 friends?

7. Ryan ran 5 laps in 8 minutes.
How many laps can he run in 24 minutes?

Ans: 8/5 = 24/x
8x = 120
x = 15 minutes

8. Cassie is shopping at the MOA. She buys 3 shirts for $45.00. How much does 5 shirts cost?

Ans: 45/3 = x/5
3x = 225
x = $75

9a. -3 x 4 + (-15/3)
= -3 x 4 + (-5)
= -12 + -5
= -17

b. 1/4 + (-3/8)
= 2/8 + (-3/8)
= -1/8

c. -0.3 x 60
= -18.0

d. (-2/5)/(-1/5)
= (-2/5) x (-5/1)
= 10

4 answers

4. No.
One way to solve this problem is to use a proportion.
5/6 - x/120

6. No. Taylor has more friends than Kate,

7. 15 laps

8. d is wrong

The rest are right.
#4
There are only 6 students, so just take
(5/6)(120) = 100
so 100 prefer pepperoni

#6.
Taylor/Kate = 3/2
Taylor/120 = 3/2
2 Taylor = 360
Taylor = 180

#9 d)
(-2/5) / (-1/5)
= (-2/5)(-5/1)
= 10/5
= 2

The others are correct
Thanks for the explanations!!
You're welcome.
