Can someone help explain these directions??

For the energy-yielding nutrients, please convert the amount (grams) consumed to calories.  This can be done by multiplying the amount of that nutrient consumed by the respective number of calories it provides (protein and carbohydrate 4 cal/gram; fat 9 cal/gram).  Divide that value from the total amount of energy (calories) consumed and multiply by 100 to determine the percent of energy contributed by that nutrient.
