"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Yes, I can paraphrase the First Amendment. The question is addressed to you. If you post your paraphrasing here, I'll be glad to check it for you.
Ok here is mine.

The congress is not allowed to make a law that includes a religion, people are free to worship whoever they believe in, worship where ever they think is the most appropriate place, and to fight for their beliefs.
That's a good start.

Now -- what about freedom of speech and the press?
What about peacefully gathering and telling the government what the people want?
Opps sorry, could you help me fit this into what I already have please?

...People are allowed to speech freely and openly about whatever they think is important, and are allowed to tell the government what the people want
sorry I meant speak instead of speech
speak freely.
The press is also free to print criticism of the government.

Just add all of that after your original statement.
ok will do!!

thank you for your help :)
You're very welcome.
