Calculate the number of moles of carbon

atoms present in 1.4 g of ethanol (C2H6O).

i get that you calculate the number of moles of ethanol whic i got was .03039 but how do you get the moles of CARBON from that.

look at the formula. there are two carbons for each molecule of ethanol.

so moles of carbon: 2*.03 moles
