Sperm development, also known as spermatogenesis, begins in the testes where stem cells called spermatogonia divide and differentiate into mature sperm cells. These sperm cells undergo a series of divisions and transformations, eventually developing into mature sperm cells through the process of meiosis.
Once fully developed, the mature sperm cells are released into the seminiferous tubules of the testes and then move into the epididymis for further maturation and storage. When the body is ready to release sperm, they pass through the vas deferens and mix with fluids from the seminal vesicles, prostate gland, and bulbourethral glands to form semen.
During ejaculation, the muscles in the reproductive system contract, pushing the semen out of the body through the urethra. The sperm then travel through the urethra and exit the body through the during ejaculation.
