I’m working on a comic strip inspired by "The Front Desk," a novel that really struck a chord with me. The story revolves around Mia, a young girl who manages the front desk of a motel while her family works hard to pursue the American dream. I want to capture the themes of resilience and the immigrant experience by illustrating Mia’s day-to-day challenges and triumphs, making it relatable and engaging for readers. A comic strip feels like a fun way to convey the story's emotion and humor, allowing the visuals to bring Mia’s world to life.
One part from the book that stood out to me is when Mia faces discrimination but finds strength in her friends and family. This moment highlights how support can help someone overcome tough situations, which is a powerful message I want to depict in my strip. By focusing on Mia's interactions and her determination, my comic will show how even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference, making the struggles we face a little easier to bear. I'm excited to share Mia’s journey with others through this creative medium!
