Bob created an experiment to test what plants need to survive. He believes plants only need water to live. In order to test his hypothesis, Bob planted two of the same types of plant. Only one received water and sunlight. While the other plant only received water. He measured the plants everyday for 2 weeks. At the end the plant that received water and sunlight had drown more than the plant only receiving water.

when you vary the independent variable, light, the dependent variable , growth, changes.

I would conclude that the plant needs water and light.

Of course I assume they were both in the same soil with all essential nutrients.
