Black citizens were the only group that did not all come to Texas willingly. In 3–5 sentences, describe the similarities in their experience to other immigrant groups.

Like other immigrant groups, black citizens were brought to Texas involuntarily, forced to leave behind their homes and families. They faced discrimination and oppression, as well as struggles to adapt to a new culture and way of life. Even though they were different people from the other immigrants that came to Texas, and had different reasons for coming to Texas, they had some similarities. Like the Mexicans and the French, black people came to Texas seeking a better, peaceful life. They believed that Texas could provide them with a better economic system. The Black citizens were also brought to Texas to be soldiers, which was a common occupation for Anglo-American settlers as well.
