Before I had dialysis my arginase, I heat treated it with MnCl2 in 80oC. But why should I add MnCl2?
1 answer
MnCl2 is added to the arginase enzyme to activate it before heat treatment. Manganese ions help to stabilize the enzyme's structure and promote its activity, thereby preventing denaturation during heat treatment. Additionally, Mn2+ ions can bind to the active site of arginase and may aid in substrate binding and catalysis. This procedure ensures that the enzyme retains its activity and stability during the heat treatment process.
