Because each water molecule is charged, it easily forms bonds with other water molecules. The tendency of water molecules to stick together is called cohesion. Instead of spreading out into a microscopically thin layer, water molecules come together to form droplets and streams. Each droplet forms a “skin” on its surface that helps keep its shape.

Which of these is not an example of cohesion?

A
dew forming beads on a leaf

B
raindrops falling from the sky

C
spilled water forming a puddle

D
lightning striking water in a pool
