At what position is the kinetic energy the greatest when the ball is dropped?
1 answer
The kinetic energy of a ball is the greatest at the lowest position. When the ball is dropped, it starts with gravitational potential energy which gets converted into kinetic energy as it falls. As the ball moves closer to the ground, its speed and therefore its kinetic energy increase. Hence, the kinetic energy is greatest when the ball is at its lowest point just before hitting the ground.
