Are there books written about the history of psychoanalysis? I have to write a paper about Sigmund Freud and how he was a turning point in history but I can't find sources that have to do with the BEFORE and AFTER. Any suggestions?

Since you're looking for books, I urge you to go to your college or local library to find their resources.
Thanks, and I have. I wasn't sure if there were any psychology majors out there who knew of Freud books, but I'll manage.
Please check back about midday tomorrow. A psychologist usually checks this board for psychology questions in the morning.
There are a multitude of books and articles about Freud. However, you seem to be looking at the effect of Freud on world or psychological history. Freud is noted for his emphasis on various factors that had not been considered seriously — the unconscious including dreams, sexuality and new types of treatment — and concepts that go along with these. We take much of his work for granted now, so they have become integrated into our culture.
I searched Google under the key words "Freud history effect" to get these possible sources:

In the future, you can find the information you desire more quickly, if you use appropriate key words to do your own search. Also see http://hanlib.sou.edu/searchtools/.
I hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
