The United States' government was made to keep people safe and free, especially because they didn’t want to feel like they did when they were ruled by Great Britain. First, the Founding Fathers created the Constitution to make sure that the government couldn’t have too much power, so they made rules that everyone, even the leaders, had to follow. Second, they added the Bill of Rights, which gives people important freedoms, like the right to say what they think and to practice their own religion. Third, the government was set up with three branches: the legislative, the executive, and the judicial. This way, each branch can check on the others and make sure no one becomes too powerful like the king of Great Britain did. All these things help protect the people and make sure everyone has a say in how the country is run!
