Basically, the Associative property of addition states that you can add in any order, and the results will be the same.

a + b + c = b + c + a = c + a + b.
a,b, and c are any real numbers.

a + (b+c) = 2 + (4+6) = 2 + 10 = 12.

(a+b) + c = (2+4) + 6 = 6 + 6 = 12.
