An electron in the n=5 level of an H atom emit a photon of wavelength 1281nm. To what energy level does the electron move? Thanks for ur help.

1 answer

1/wavelength = R(1/x^2 - 1/n^2
R = 1.097E7
n = 5; n^2 = 25. Solve for x.
wavelength must be change to meters.
