An appliance dealer marks up refrigerators 15% (based on cost). If the cost of one model is $600, what should its selling price be?

Do 600 times 1.15. If you just did 600 times .15 (15%) then you would have to add another 600, but by multiplying by 1.15 you get the answer in one step. So in this case, the answer would be $690.
