an 6lb object is hanging from a 10lb object which in turn is hanging from a ceiling.

Question

need to find tension(T1) of rope from ceiling to 10lb object and tension(T2) from the 10lb object to the 6lb object.

please, need assitance in trying to set up the problem. thanks

Tension is a reaction force.

Since the forces are in opposite directions, the tension is the (absolute) diffence of the sum of forces in each direction.
