half of a dozen is 1/2 * 12 = 6
so, 2/3 of 5 3/4 = 2/3 * 23/4 = 46/12 = 23/6 = 3 5/6

Hmmm. Think of the 1/8 as a unit. You have 10 units divided by 5 units. The answer is 10/5 = 2
