emperor, reigning from 1908 until his abdication in 1912. After his abdication, he was allowed to remain in the Forbidden City, but in 1924 he was expelled by warlord Feng Yuxiang. P’u Yi was later captured by Soviet troops in 1945 and handed over to Chinese authorities. He was tried as a war criminal by the Chinese government and sentenced to ten years in prison, where he was later rehabilitated and released. P’u Yi died in 1967 in Beijing.
