After becoming emperor of France, Napoleon primarily invaded and conquered most of Europe. His military campaigns, known as the Napoleonic Wars, led to the expansion of French influence across much of the continent. Napoleon sought to spread revolutionary ideals, establish French dominance, and create a vast empire. Although he did not successfully invade Britain, he did attempt to invade Russia, which ultimately ended in a disastrous retreat for his army in 1812.
