QUESTION:Why does she feel neglected and misunderstood?

A large part of Anne's feelings can be attributed to her age. Young teens are finding their places in life and are unsure of themselves. Anne doesn't have any friends to validate her ideas and emotions, so of course she feels misunderstood.
