A triangle has an area of 9 square feet. If another similar triangle has an area of 36 square feet, what is the ratio of the perimeter of the smaller triangle to that of the larger triangle?

since area grows as the square pf the scale factor, which is 4 in this case,
the sides grow by a factor of 2.
so the smaller triangle perimeter is 1/2 that of the larger
