darjeeling tea to the ratio of the entire blend is 5 (in the ratio it is given) / 9 (sum of both teas) = 5/9
so, 5/9 * 90 ounces = 50 ounces
thus the answer is 50 ounces. sorry for being unclear

    He might have gotten it by using a proportion.
5/9 = x/90
9x = 450
x = 50

5/9 = x/90
9x = 450
x = 50

    so just like Ms. Sue said, you can you use a proportion. 1/20 would be the people owning at least one bird. So, 1/20 * 500 = 25. We get 25 people who were surveyed and owned at least one bird. Next time just post another question I guess :D

    I think he meant to click Post a New Question. That way everyone is alerted that it is a new question, not just a continuation of a previous question.
