The mutation in the DNA that causes the arctic fox to have white fur instead of brown would be classified as a beneficial mutation because it allows the fox to blend into its snowy environment, making it less visible to its predators and therefore increasing its chances of survival. The white fur would make it easier for the fox to sneak up on its prey, as well. Therefore, this mutation makes the fox more likely to survive in its harsh environment.
