A soccer team played a total of 27 matches and the ratio wins to losses was 7:2. How many games did the team win and how many did it lose?

wins = 7 x
losses = 2 x
total games = 9 x
so
9 x = 27
x = 3
wins = 7*3
losses = 2*3

I didn't understand the steps

How about
27-(7+2)
=27-9
=18÷2
=9wins
9loses
