A small aircraft requires a speed of 34.0 m/s in order to take off. What minimum constant acceleration does this require if the aircraft is to be airborne at the end of a 245. meter long runway?

I'm not sure how to set up the problem.

1 answer

d = Vo*t + 0.5*a*t^2 = 245 m.

V = a*t = 34 m/s.
a = 34/t.

d = Vo*t + 0.5(34/t)t^2 = 245.
0 + 17t = 245.
t = 14.4 s.

a = 34/t = 34/14.4 = 2.36 m/s^2.
