A sample of an iron alloy contains 92.1g Fe, 2.59g C, and 1.59g Cr. Calculate the percent by mass of each component present in the alloy sample.

%Fe = (g iron/total grams)*100 = ?
The others are done the same way.
When you say total grams is that FE C and CR on bottom of division sign?
you add the total grams of Fe+C+Cr which is
Fe = 92.1 + C = 2.59 + Cr = 1.59 = 96.28
The question is asking for the % by mass of each component.
you calculate each individual element .
Fe gm of 92.1/96.28 (total gms) x100% = 95.7%
You do the same for C and Cr.
You should get the result of
C = 2.69%
Cr = 1.65%
