I guess I will assume the tool is cutting the long way (250 mm) and moving sideways 2 mm each stroke
Assuming that, and you can always turn it around and do it the other way, each stroke will be 250 + 5 + 5 = 260 mm long and 2 mm wide. To get 100 mm then we will have to take 50 strokes
so we cut a total of 50 *260 = 13,000 mm
at 20 m/min which is 20,000 mm/min
so it is 13,000 mm /20,000 mm/min
or .65 minutes
A rectangular face of a casting 250mmx100mm is to be machined on a sharper.if the average cutting speed is to be 20m/mins and the feed is to be 2mm/stroke,calculate the time taken to machine the face of the casting.Allow 5mm overrun at each end of the stroke
