A polot flies 630 miles wit a tail wind of 35 miles per hour. Against the wind, he flies only 455 miles in the same amount of time. Find the rate of the plane in still air.

4 answers

630=(r+35)time
455=(r-35)time

Divide the second equation into the first...

630/455= (r+35)/(r-35)

solve for r.
