Review notes on Archimedes principle of flotion, which says that a floating object displaces it's own weight of fluid in which it floats.
Think of the ice as making a hole in the water.
The weight of water displaced by ice is equal to the weight of the ice. What happens when the ice melts and becomes <i>water</i>? Would the volume of the water derived from melted ice be equal to that of the "hole"?
