A lot of the topics we covered throughout this course I had a general understanding of already. It was nice to take a deep dive into some the topics we discussed such as the civil rights movement, the melting pot concept, or even the presidential election. The one thing that stood out to me in this course is the fact that we are all very different people. We all come from different backgrounds, and share different stories. The way we grow up, our experiences throughout our lives, and the people we surround ourselves around really do shape the people who are today and shape the opinions we may have. At the end of the day we are all still human, and it is okay to have different opinions. I think this class showed me to open my eyes a little bit more, not to judge at first glance, and to be more understanding of people's situations as we are all very different. I believe simply being more mindful of the different people we interact with everyday is a little step into making this world a better place.
