1 answer

Simón Bolívar, also known as El Libertador, successfully led independence movements across South America in the early 19th century. Bolívar played a key role in the liberation of countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia from Spanish colonial rule. He is considered one of the most influential leaders in Latin American history and is often referred to as the George Washington of South America. Bolívar's vision of a united South America, known as Gran Colombia, ultimately did not come to fruition, but his efforts in securing independence for multiple countries in the region have left a lasting legacy.
