Distance = rate * time
From your data, D = 200.5 miles
However, there is no indication of rate on your post. I think you need the data that you say you were told to ignore.
a group of fifth grade students in New Zealand are going camping. They will hike from Wellington to Ruapehu. Then they will follow a trail for another 1/2 mile to their campsite.
I was able to calculate the distance from Wellington to Ruapehu by using the map scale. It is 200 miles.
The next question was About how long would it take the students to arrive at their campsite, if they don't make any stops?
How do I figure this out? my teacher told us to ignore the top of the page where we were to calculate the class median for step length and the# of steps in 1 minute.
