take the definition of speed.
average speed=total distance/total time
avg speed=(distance1+distance2)/(time1+time2)
now distance 1=3.93*43.3 meters, and time1=43.3sec
you are looking for time 2
distance2=1.13*time2
solve for time2, a bit of algebra will be needed.
A golfer rides in a golf cart at an average speed of 3.93 m/s for 43.3 s. She then gets out of the cart and starts walking at an average speed of 1.13 m/s. For how long (in seconds) must she walk if her average speed for the entire trip, riding and walking, is 1.99 m/s?
Can someone please help me? I don't understand how to do this.
