Let the number of oranges and apples be x each

oranges left after selling: x - 109
apples left after selling : x-4

x-45 = 5(x-109)
x - 45 = 5x = -545
-4x = -500
x = 125

He had 125 oranges and 145 apples

Check:
125-109 = 16
125-45 = 80
is 80 equal to 5 times 16 ? YES
