multiply bot sides by 3
24+3x=32+x

Here's one way to figure it out.
We know there are 8 boys in the club.
We're looking for a number larger than 32 that is evenly divisible by 3. But 33 doesn't work because 8 + 1 isn't 1/3 of 33.
The next number is 36. Try that one.
