A carbon nucleus has six protons and six neutrons. How many electrons would it take to equal the mass of a carbon nucleus?

my teacher said 6pt x conversion to make kg and then add that to 6nx conversion to make kilograms.

then that times conversion for electrons.

so kg x 1e-/.00091e-27

but i got like 8.58e-88 and it said it was wrong

2 answers

mass 6 protons: 6*1.67E-27
mass 6 neutrons: 1.67E-27
mass electron:9.11E-31

number electrons= 6(2*1.67E-27)/9.11E-31
number = about 22000. You do it more accurately.
I got 2.410e16 but got it wrong
