Determine the speed of the car in these 40 seconds.

v = a t
d = (1/2) a t^2
50 = (1/2) a (40)^2
100 = 1600 a
a = 1/16 m/s^2
so final v = a t = 40/16 = 2.5 /s

that should be twice the average speed which is 50/40 =1.25 sure enough
