A block starts at rest and slides down a fric-

tionless track. It leaves the track horizontally,
flies through the air, and subsequently strikes
the ground.

What horizontal distance does the block
travel in the air?
Answer in units of m.

What is the speed of the block when it hits
the ground?
Answer in units of m/s.

You have to figure the time in the air from the height of the drop from the end of the track to the ground.
Given the time, you know the horizontal distance (speed*time).
