A bird is flying at a height of 40
feet and spots an 8-ft ledge on
which to perch. If the top of the
ledge is at a 22Yangle of
depression from the bird, how far
must the bird fly before it can
land? (Careful!)

The bird must fly a distance of 32 feet.
If the bot had drawn a proper diagram, (LOL), it would have
realized that
sin 22 = 32/x, where x is the distance we want, (the hypotenuse)
x = 32/sin22 = appr 85.4 ft
realized that
sin 22 = 32/x, where x is the distance we want, (the hypotenuse)
x = 32/sin22 = appr 85.4 ft
