A baseball is his so that a travel straight upward after being struck by the bat. A fat observes that it takes three seconds for the ball to reach its maximum height. Find the balls initial velocity and the height it reaches. my professor showed a similar problem to this but I want to keep on practicing different problems like these and I need a starting point and was wondering if any of you knew how to solve this problem so I could hopefully use this as a future reference when I get stuck ona. Similar problem. Thanks you!

the speed drops from v to zero when the ball reaches max height. since the speed is
v - 9.8t
that is zero when t=3, so
v - 9.8*3 = 0
...
then, you know that the height is
vt - 4.9t^2
Now you know v, and t=3, so plug and chug.
