Assuming that potential energy is defined so that the value at ground level is zero, the total kinetic energy starts at M*g*H and remains that value until it hits the ground. Potential eneergy is changed to kinetic as it falls.
M = 8 kg
g = 9.8 m/s^2
H = 100 m

Total energy = ____ J
(Just multiply the three numbers)
7840
Datas.mass=8kg,height=100m,distance=40m.And the question state find the total energy,so the addtion of kinectic & potential energy is the total energy. Ep=m*g*h.while g is constant at 10m/s^2.Ek =1/2 m*v^2.distance wil be represent velocity, so v=4om.after that add both answer 2gether.the answer is our total energy
E.p is equal to mgh
8 mutiply by 10 multiply by 100 is equal to 800joules
This question is just straight forward. We know that it all about EK and EP but it common sense to answer this question. It says

8kg falls from rest and
the height is 100 m
Neglect air resistance and calculate the total energy after falling a distance of 40 m.

Fall from rest _ 8*100= 800.

Total energy after falling is 40 *100=4000.

Then you add the both answers together, that is falling from rest * total energy after falling, which is; 800 + 4000 = 4800joules...
Its k.E= 0.5*m*v^2 while v^2 =2gh/2gh. Therefore k.E = 0.5*8* 44.7^2 =
89.50 or129.4
4,800j
Which one is correct
Fall from rest is 8* 100=800
Total energy after falling is 40*100= 4000. Then u add both answer together 4000*800=4800joule
I don't understand how to arrive at the answer
@ rest no g then it is =8*100 which will give you 800
Then another work (energy) is done through 40m =100*40
=4000
All together 4800, is correct
Total energy after falling a distance of 40m is simply the sum of the energy, when it fell from a height of 100m and 40m. Neglecting air resistance we have first energy obtained to 8*100=800 and second energy obtained to 40*100=4000 (i.e work done through 40m).sum of both energies will happen to be 4800joules.
But my answer is 11199
From rest = 8×100=800
After falling = 40 ×100=4000
Total energy = 4000 + 800 = 4800 joules
I don't know how we arrive at
the answer
The simple answer to this question is the potential energy of 8kg at (100-40)m which is 60m above the ground.

Answer= 8kg * 10m/s² * 60m
Which gives us 4800j..
Its true
since the question say's neglect air resistance.8*100.energy at first phase=800.then energy at second phase =40*100=4000.therefore total energy =4000+800=4800 joules
I tink all answers sofar are wrong, although the 4800joules is closest to d correct answer.
A body that has fallen a distance of 40m,would have acquired a certain amount of vertical velocity at d height and has such has kinetic energy. Also bcoz diz said body is also at a height above d ground. It also has potential energy. Hence total energy at d height is ke+pe
Datz 4800joules+4800joules giving 9600joules at d height of 60m above ground level
