A bag contains 13 balls numbered 1 through 13. What are the odds in favor of selecting a ball that has an even number? Explain why?

2 answers

Six of the 13 balls have an even number (2,4,6,8,10 and 12). That should tell you the answer, and the reason.

The probablility of getting an even numbered one is 6/13. When stated as "odds", as at a horse racing track, it would be 6:7. I suspect they want you to answer with the probability.
thanks that helps!
