A 6 ft pole casts a shadow of 8ft long while a nearby flagpole casts a shadow of 56 ftlong. What is the height of the flagpole?

4 answers

Cross multiply and solve for x.

6/8 = x/56
the ratio is 6/8 (height actual to shadow)

Flagpole height / 56 = 6/8

flagpole height / 56= 3/4

so, the flagpole height is 56*3 / 4 = 42
7x+4<1_2(4x+3).
