I couldn't find the width of the mat. If the picture and the mat are similar rectangles, does it mean the width is 4 inch.? Then the answer is 8in. x 4in. = 32 square inches

L/B=l/b
where L is length of mat, B is breadth of mat, l is length of picture and b is breadth of picture.
8/B=6/4
=>B=16/3 inches
AREA of mat = LB = 8*16/3=128/3=42.666 inch²
