This a strange question. If something or someone forced anyone to live alone in the woods, that person still wouldn't be "like Thoreau."

I've been to Walden Pond twice, and it's calming and peaceful in those woods. I'd like to spend a couple of weeks alone in such a place.

However, my husband was a writer and nature lover. He spent about half the spring, summer, and fall in a similar cabin in northern Michigan. He greatly admired Thoreau.

I believe in civil disobedience to help make necessary changes in society. Gandhi used it in India to help gain independence from Britain. Civil rights leaders used it to gain rights for African-Americans. The Vietnam War was protested with civil disobedience.

The question for you is what do you strongly believe is wrong enough that you'd be willing to be civilly disobedient?

None of us can "be like him, his beliefs." Each of us has our own beliefs, and some may be strong enough to move us to acts of civil disobedience.
