                at a large state university, 60% of the students who apply are accepted. Of those who are accepted, 40% actually enroll. If 20,000 students apply, how many actually enroll?

    20,000 * 0.6 = 12,000 are accepted
12,000 * 0.4 = 4800 actually enroll

12,000 * 0.4 = 4800 actually enroll

    Accept = .6(20000) = 12000
40% enrolled
12000(.4) = 4800

    This is difficult but it really comes down to:
40% enrolled
12000 (.4) = 4800
12000 are accepted

40% enrolled
12000 (.4) = 4800
12000 are accepted
