when dividing powers, subtract exponents:
x^6/x^4 = x^2
1/x^3 = x^-3
x^-3/x^-5 = x^2 because (-3)-(-5)=+2
1 = x^0 for any value of x (except zero)
x^6/x^4 = x^2
1/x^3 = x^-3
x^-3/x^-5 = x^2 because (-3)-(-5)=+2
1 = x^0 for any value of x (except zero)
