Three friends share the cost of a pizza. The base price of the pizza is p and the extra toppings cost $4.50. If each person’s share was $7.15, which equation could be used to find p, the base price of the pizza?

yes, here's my idea?

If no idea, look at the last two problems. There must be some first step you could make.

hint: each share is 1/3 the total cost.
Answered by hannah
7.15 =1/3 P+4.50
or 7.16=1/3 (p+4.50)

Answered by Steve
total cost is (p+4.50)
so, the 2nd equation is correct (except for the typo :-))
